How do you make powerful statistics have more of an impact?
The potential that more female-led businesses could add to the UK is staggering. In fact, £250 billion could be added to the UK economy if women started and scaled business at the same rate as men.*
But only 15% of businesses in the UK are currently started or led by women.**
We decided it wasn’t enough to bemoan the figures. We were going to do something about it.
We slid into the DMs of Emmie Faust from Female Founders Rise and suggested we take this campaign to the streets. Literally. We created a digital and OOH campaign, with support from JCDecaux UK and glooh., running across more than 90 screens around London and Birmingham, including the ‘Shoreditch Showcase’ on 24 October. (Tomorrow!)
We knew three things as we approached the brief:
1. A powerful stat, though impressive, would not be enough on its own to make an impact.
2. There’s a lot of information on the barriers women face but, while this is all important context, we wanted to make a campaign that was a celebration of female founders.
3. We couldn't speak for women. We needed to hear real stories from real founders.
The result? ‘You’ve Got What It Takes’ was born. The campaign features real stories from female founders, sharing their experiences and insights on what it takes to run a business. Here’s the first in our series of interviews, which features Pamela Aculey, Rebekah Clark FRSA, Emmie Faust, and Rebekah Lloyd sharing the advice they’d give to potential founders.
